Technical Assistance to SWM

The Surinaamsche Waterleiding Maatschappij (SWM) is the nationally operating water supply company of Suriname and provides more than 500,000 people with drinking water on a daily basis in both the entire coastal plain and parts of the interior. The vision of SWM is to be a leading water company in the Caribbean region, focused on excellent service.
Since 1993, SWM and Vitens (and its predecessor WMO) are supporting SWM in the improvement of the water supply to Paramaribo and the surrounding areas. Over the last years, our support to SWM is shifting more and more to supporting in developing long term (asset) plans and organizational development.
In 2019, SWM and VEI signed a new partnership agreement for continued support in the period 2019-2024. The activities are focused on support in improved asset management including leakage control and on continuous learning and development of staff.
