WOP Bonaire: Management Support Bonaire

VEI is supporting Water en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB) across a broad spectrum of water utility operations since 2013. Since 1 October 2016 Gerard Speelman works for VEI in Bonaire as Resident Project Manager. "The most time I am offering to support the business unit water by Implement the law ‘Wet Drinkwater en Electriciteit’ which is introduced by the Dutch government on 1st July 2016. This means that I have to realize a delivery plan and have to review the legionella management plan, an emergency response plan and measurement plan. High priority in my job is also assisting the company to identify and reduce non-revenue- water. One day I instruct the team leaders at the field with the calibration of measurements and the other day I am at the office to make water balance or checking clients in the data base of customer services."

The last period VEI worked together in the project team of WEB to build a new water treatment installation. The role of VEI is advising and give reviews on the engineering plans. The new contract explicitly states that management development of the Water Business Unit will be included in the support provided by VEI. 

"So, I spent also time to support the manager BU-water and the team leaders. This could be supporting them with projects, planning, organization, and I have made a training program."
